All-on-X Dental Implants in Tustin, Orange County

All-on-X is a way to replace a full arch of missing or failing teeth with a fixed bridge held in place by dental implants. The X is the number of implants, anywhere from four to six, chosen to fit your bone and bite. When four implants are used, it is also known as All-on-4.

At OC Max Surgery Center in Tustin, our board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeons plan and place full-arch implants for patients across Orange County. Unlike dentures, the new teeth are fixed in place. You do not take them out at night, and there is no denture glue.

Full-arch implants are also a key part of full mouth rehabilitation, which means rebuilding the teeth and bite of the upper jaw, lower jaw, or both, so you can eat, speak, and smile with confidence again.

Who Is a Good Candidate?

You may be a good fit for All-on-X if you:

• Are missing most or all of your teeth in the upper or lower jaw

• Have many teeth that are broken, loose, or badly decayed

• Have advanced gum disease that is causing tooth loss

• Wear dentures that slip, rub, or make eating hard

• Were told you do not have enough bone for regular implants

• Want fixed teeth instead of removable dentures

Health conditions such as uncontrolled diabetes, smoking, certain medications, or past radiation to the jaw can affect healing. Our surgeons will review your health history and imaging at your consultation to see if full-arch implants are right for you.

The Process, Step by Step

Sedation Options

Your comfort and safety come first. Our oral and maxillofacial surgeons are trained in anesthesia, and we offer a full range of options so you can choose what feels right:

• Local anesthesia to numb the treatment area

• Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to help you relax

• IV sedation for a deeply relaxed, comfortable experience in which most patients remember little or nothing of the procedure

• General anesthesia so you sleep through the entire procedure

Most of our All-on-X patients choose IV sedation or general anesthesia. For general anesthesia cases, a physician anesthesiologist (MD) or a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) is part of your care team, so a dedicated anesthesia professional monitors you throughout surgery.

Your sedation plan is based on your health, the size of the procedure, and your comfort. If you have IV sedation or general anesthesia, you will need an adult to drive you home.

What to Expect During Recovery

• First few days: Swelling, mild bruising, and soreness are normal. They usually peak around day 2 or 3 and then improve.

• Pain control: Most patients manage discomfort with prescribed or over-the-counter medicine.

• Diet: Liquids and very soft foods at first, then a soft diet during healing. No hard or crunchy foods on the temporary teeth until cleared.

• Back to work: Many people return to desk work within a few days to a week.

• Full healing: About 3 to 6 months before final teeth.

• Follow-up visits: Scheduled to check healing and adjust your temporary teeth as needed.

You will get written care instructions and a way to reach the office if you have questions after surgery.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How much do All-on-X dental implants cost in Orange County?

A: Cost depends on whether you need one arch or both, how many implants are used, whether you need extractions or bone grafting, the type of sedation, and the material of your final teeth. Because every case is different, we give you a written, itemized estimate at your consultation so there are no surprises.

Q: Do you offer financing?

A: Yes. We work with CareCredit, Cherry, and LendingClub to offer monthly payment options. Our team can walk you through monthly payment options at your consultation.

Q: How long do All-on-X implants last?

A: With good home care and regular checkups, the implants themselves can last for many years and often for decades. The bridge of teeth attached to the implants may need repair or replacement over time due to normal wear.

Q: Will I get teeth on the day of surgery?

A: Yes, in most cases. Most patients leave with a fixed temporary set of teeth the same day. Whether this is possible depends on how stable your implants are when placed, which our surgeon checks during surgery.

Q: Do I need a bone graft?

A: Not always. All-on-X can use angled implants that can often avoid bone grafting, even when some bone has been lost. If grafting is needed, it is often done during the same surgery. Your 3D scan will show how much bone you have.

Q: What if I was told I do not have enough bone for implants?

A: For patients with severe bone loss in the upper jaw, zygomatic implants may be an option. These are longer implants anchored in the cheekbone (zygoma), which can allow fixed teeth without major bone grafting. This is an advanced procedure best done by a trained oral and maxillofacial surgeon.

Q: How many implants does All-on-X use?

A: All-on-X uses the number of implants that best fits your jaw, anywhere from four to six per arch. Four implants is often called All-on-4. More implants can spread out biting forces, while fewer implants may help avoid bone grafting. Our surgeons will recommend the best option for you.

Q: Is the procedure painful?

A: You should not feel pain during surgery because of local anesthesia and sedation. Afterward, soreness and swelling are normal for a few days and are usually controlled with medicine.

Q: What are the risks?

A: As with any surgery, there are risks. These can include infection, swelling, bleeding, numbness from nerve irritation, sinus problems in the upper jaw, implant failure, or a broken or worn bridge over time. Smoking and uncontrolled health conditions can raise these risks. Our surgeons will review your personal risks with you before treatment.
